This weekend I visited the Toledo Art Museum in Toledo Ohio with my friend Kei. During this visit I focused my attention on just few exhibits in the museum. When we first entered the museum, we were greeted and checked in at the front desk before heading into explore.
On the first floor they have a community gallery featuring art by local students. It was so inspiring to see all the talent and creativity on display. It was really cool to see young people showing off their talent as well as some speaking on important issues. Here are a few images of works I saw in that gallery:
Once we went upstairs, the first exhibit we went into was the “Africa Unmasked” exhibit. One piece in particular that stood out to me was a bronze sculpture from the "Africa Unmasked" exhibit called "Seated 2".
Some of the other pieces that caught my eye right away were the collection of Greek ceramic pieces. Since I’m a ceramic artist myself, I was naturally drawn to them. It was incredible to see how detailed and beautiful they were, considering how old they are. It really made me appreciate the art form even more.

Hi Aubriana, Great... so glad you got to Toledo. Remember, the assignments are 2 photo essays and 4 papers. The papers (with accompanying images) can be written using the template in the syllabus. I lay out the format paragraph by paragraph as an aid. There is no particular order to how you do these assignments. The Greek vases are amazing and there is much to write about. There is material, technique, imagery and meaning, etc.
